Today we discover CAREY , the project that takes the habanera to sail new seas.

There is music that smells of salt, of farewells that never end and memories that refuse to disappear. This is the sound of Carey, the musical project that unites the restless souls of Aarón Sáez, known for his work in Varry Brava, and Antonio Turro, producer, teacher and classical guitar virtuoso. Together they have created a sound universe that pays tribute to the habanera, that almost forgotten genre that unites the coasts of Spain and Cuba, but that in their hands is transformed into something new, fresh and vibrant.

Carey is not only music, it is a journey. Every note and every lyric is impregnated with the sea, with tobacco rolled in an alley in old Havana, with those bitter farewells in the ports that seem eternal. Its sound has the nostalgia of the worn-out voices of the old sea dogs, but also a modernity that breathes life into a genre that, although relegated to the dust of time, is more alive than ever.

La Casa Rosa: A journey between the past and the future

With La Casa Rosa, his latest work recorded in Havana, Carey fully immerses himself in the essence of the habanera, but does not remain a simple recreation of the past. The album is a delicate fusion where Europe, Africa and America meet, sharing table and tablecloth, but with an avant-garde touch that redefines the limits of the genre. It is music that breathes history, but also looks to the future with an accomplice smile.

In her live performances, Carey does not disappoint. The latest dates in Murcia, with the Coral de Blanca, and in Orihuela, with the Coral Ginés Pérez, have shown that the habanera can thrill both in large theaters and in small canteens where the last sip of melancholy always tastes like more. But this is only the beginning.

Heading for new shores

In March, Carey will take her music to Madrid in a special concert that promises surprises and unpublished collaborations. There they will present their new single, just before packing their bags and crossing the Atlantic for their first tour in Mexico, with stops in cities like CDMX, Toluca, Puebla and Guadalajara. A trip that promises to be as enriching as their own music.

After their performance at the Angoulême FIBD Festival in France, Carey will return to the stage with new formats, collaborations and, most excitingly, the first touches of their third album, scheduled to be released in March. A project that, as promised, will bring many new features and the participation of great friends.

Between habaneras, boleros and new horizons

But Carey is not content with being the guardian of the habanera. After exploring the depths of this genre and its infinite ramifications, the duo is ready to continue navigating between tangos, boleros, coplas and Mediterranean sounds. Each song is a bridge between the past and the present, between tradition and innovation, always with the passion of those who understand music not only as an art, but as a way of life.

Carey is the proof that music can be a journey without maps, where each port is a new opportunity to reinvent oneself. And as long as they keep sailing, we will be here, ready to embark on each of their sonic adventures.
