Born in London and raised between that city and Liverpool, the artist D.P. MacManus known as Elvis Costello announces two concerts in our country. He has been performing for over fifty years solo, with pianist Steve Nieve and with the bands Rusty, The Atractions, His Confederates – including two former members of Elvis Presley’s TCB Band – The Rude Five, an acoustic ensemble, The Sugarcanes and his current band, The Imposters.
Next September we will have the opportunity to see it live in our country, the Monday 4 at the Teatro Lope de Vega in Madrid and the Tuesday 5 at the Palau de la Música de BarcelonaThe English musician will be accompanied by the aforementioned Nieve in two dates that will be unmissable for the followers of the musician in the peninsula.
Costello is a prolific writer and part-time musician with numerous works released throughout the twentieth century, some of which are still remembered today. Most notable to many are the first five releases that were produced by his friend Nick Love, with whom he is always proud to share songs. In addition, he is the composer and lyricist of over six hundred published titles, including fifteen songs co-written with Paul McCartney and renowned collaborations with Allen Toussaint, The Brodsky Quartet and T Bone Burnett.
He is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and three years ago was awarded the Order of the British Empire for his services to music. He also holds two honorary doctorates in music, one from the University of Liverpool and the other from the New England Conservatory.
