In times when sound and aesthetic saturation invades much of the independent scene, Militares Judías bets on silence as a scream. Not the absolute silence, but the one that sneaks in between the spaces, that lets the music breathe so that it can speak for itself. The trio from Murcia -formed by Pablo (guitar and vocals), César (drums) and producer Andrey Francés-starts 2025 stripping away the noise that marked their debut to offer a radical change: a double instrumental single where what is not said weighs as much as what is played.

From distortion to containment

In their first EP, Primeras maniobras, Militares Judías presented themselves to the world among fuzz, reverb and distortion, with short songs reminiscent of the dense landscapes of The Jesus and Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine. A band built from criticism, disenchantment and suburban introspection, which took as an emotional stage the polygons of Murcia. A band, in short, uncomfortable and necessary.

But now, the band decides to take a bold step: instead of repeating the formula, they break with it. Their new double single -whose titles and covers pay homage to influences such as Felt, The Style Council and Young Marble Giants-dispenses with lyrics and distortion to move in clean, delicate, and deeply evocative atmospheres that at times take us back to the magic of “Hermanos Gutiérrez” . A declaration of principles: sometimes, to manifest oneself can also be an act of subtlety.

“Style tip” and a key collaboration

In this new work, Militares Judías keeps Andrey Francés as producer -a key figure in the band’s sound coherence- and adds an outstanding collaboration: drummer and producer Luis Arnaldo, known for his work with Antonio Smash and French TV. The combination of forces not only adds depth to the production, but also strengthens the mature and elegant direction that the band is beginning to chart.

These are strange times. And they know it.

The band does not hide behind labels or prefabricated discourses. Born from “the loneliness of the polygons” and from an emotional rather than an aesthetic need, Militares Judías are conceived as a project that makes you uncomfortable, that does not seek to please, but to invite you to look beneath the surface. Their lyrics -when there are any- address social alienation, identity, criticism of consumption and the pressure of imposed expectations.

And now, in this new chapter, they do it without words.

Because in this world of constant overstimulation, true rebellion can be, precisely, to stop. To let the silence ring out. And trusting that whoever listens will understand.
