Snoop Dogg celebrates April with “Last Dance With Mary Jane”, his lysergic tribute with Jelly Roll and Tom Petty.

Snoop Dogg has released the official music video for “Last Dance With Mary Jane” on April 20, coinciding with the celebration of 4/20. This new single, included in his album Missionary (2024), features a collaboration with Jelly Roll and the posthumous participation of Tom Petty, whose iconic song “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” is sampled in this track.

The music video, directed by Dave Meyers, features a psychedelic narrative that fuses animations and real scenes. In it, Snoop Dogg embarks on a mind-bending journey through marijuana fields, interacting with representations of legendary figures such as Tupac Shakur and Bob Marley. Dr. Dre, producer of the track, also makes a featured appearance in the video.

“Last Dance With Mary Jane” is an ode to Snoop Dogg’s relationship with marijuana, a recurring theme in his career. The song combines elements of classic hip-hop with hints of rock and country, thanks to the influence of Tom Petty and Jelly Roll’s distinctive voice.

This release is part of Missionary, Snoop Dogg’s 20th studio album, which marks his first full collaboration with Dr. Dre since 1993’s Doggystyle. The album has been well-received, featuring a blend of classic and modern West Coast hip-hop sounds.
