Dyson (we’re not mistaken, it’s the vacuum cleaners) launches the OnTrac, a new level in headphones.

Leading home technology brand Dyson has taken a big step into the world of audio with the launch of its first headphones focused exclusively on sound: the OnTrac. After the “relative” success of the Dyson Zone, a hybrid headset that combines noise cancellation with air purification, the company is back with a product that is more focused on the listening experience.

The new OnTrac promises to raise the standard for high-end headphones thanks to a long battery life, class-leading noise cancellation and a customization system that is unique in the market.

Dyson especially highlights the OnTrac’s active noise cancellation (ANC) technology, claiming it is best-in-class. To achieve this, the headphones feature eight microphones that analyze ambient sound at an impressive 384,000 times per second. This information is processed by a custom ANC algorithm that, combined with the design and materials of the headphones, achieves up to 40dB of external noise cancellation. In addition, the MyDyson app allows you to measure and record the noise levels you are exposed to, encouraging healthy listening habits.

Another strong point of the OnTrac is its battery, with a battery life of 55 hours with active noise cancellation. This figure is only surpassed by the Cambridge Audio Melomania P100, which offers 60 hours. In addition, Dyson has opted to place the batteries in the headband, resulting in a slimmer profile of the headphones.

But perhaps the most outstanding feature of the OnTrac is the ability to customize its appearance. Dyson offers a wide range of interchangeable caps and pads, allowing users to create more than 2,000 different color combinations. This level of customization is unheard of in the industry and demonstrates the brand’s attention to detail.

With the OnTrac, Dyson is looking to carve out a niche in a highly competitive market dominated by brands such as Apple, Sony and Bose. However, the company’s expertise in acoustics and noise reduction, acquired over decades of developing products such as vacuum cleaners and hair dryers, gives it a competitive edge.
