The soundtrack for the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic ‘Back To Black’ has been revealed, featuring an original song by legendary musician Nick Cave.
The film, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, opens in theaters May 17 and offers an intimate look at the London singer’s life and legacy. Marisa Abela plays Winehouse in a performance that promises to capture the essence of the artist.
The official soundtrack, ‘Back To Black: Songs from the Original Motion Picture’, is released on May 17. It includes iconic Winehouse tracks, three original recordings from her debut album ‘Frank’ and three from ‘Back To Black’.
The soundtrack also features ‘Song for Amy’, a new original song performed by Nick Cave. Cave and collaborator Warren Ellis also composed the film’s soundtrack.
The album also pays tribute to the artists who inspired Winehouse, with tracks by The Shangri-Las, Billie Holiday, Minnie Riperton, Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan.
The film and soundtrack focus on Amy Winehouse ‘s extraordinary talent, her unparalleled creativity and the raw honesty that permeated her music.
The soundtrack will be available on vinyl, CD and digital. Vinyl editions include an inner sleeve with a personal note from the director.
Deluxe Editions: The 2LP and 2CD deluxe editions feature black and white photographs taken during filming.
The film’s trailer has generated buzz and the film has received approval from Winehouse’s estate. Mark Ronson, a friend and collaborator of the singer, praised the film for its portrayal of Winehouse’s humor and wit.
