American singer and producer Skrillex has had one of the most intense weekends of his life, releasing two albums and performing at Madison Square Garden in New York. On Friday he released his previously announced Quest For Fire (Owsla/Atlantic, 2023) but 24 hours later he surprised everyone by releasing a new LP entitled Don’t Get Too Close (Owsla/Atlantic, 2023), without prior announcement.
The second album features collaborations with Yung Len, Bladee, Chief Keef, Justin Bieber, PinkPantheress, Trippie Redd, Bibi Bourelly and Kid Cudi, among others. Prior to his premiere, the Los Angeles artist performed an impromptu set from a bus in Times Square, generating a buzz among passersby, who recorded his show with their cell phones.
What are your new recordings?
After his solo debut almost a decade ago with the full-length feature film Recess (Owsla/Atlantic, 2014), the former member of the post-hardcore band From First to Last returned on Friday with such standout songs as ‘Ratata‘ with Missy Elliott and Mr.Oizo, as well as other guests such as Potter Robinson, Pete Wentz, Aluna, Bibi Bourelly and Beam, among others. It also includes the singles ‘Butterflies‘ (featuring Starrah and Four Tet), ‘Too Bizarre‘ (featuring Swae Lee and Sickbrain) and ‘Rumble‘ (featuring Fred Again).
Don’t miss their concerts in Spain!
Next June we will be lucky enough to see him live in our country, specifically on the 2nd and 9th when he will be on stage at the macro festival Primavera Sound in its editions of Barcelona and Madrid. First it will be at the Parc del Fòrum and a week later it will be at the Ciudad del Rock in Arganda del Rey, appointments marked in red in our particular musical calendar.
