The summer of 2025 has left two headlines that, at first glance, seem unrelated, but that together draw an increasingly clear trend: the fusion between soccer and music as a media and emotional showcase.
Sergio Ramos sings to himself: “Cibeles”.
The former Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos, has once again surprised outside the field of play. After his past flirtation with music -from flamenco to occasional collaborations-, he now releases his first solo single, titled “Cibeles”.
The song, available from August 31 on all digital platforms, is a tribute to his white career and to the fountain in Madrid where he celebrated so many titles. With a melodic and nostalgic tone, Ramos sings verses that function as a personal confession and farewell letter to his fans: “There are things I didn’t tell you, that still hurt me. I never wanted to leave, you asked me to fly”.
The video clip, loaded with Real Madrid symbols, has generated immediate conversation on social networks: between criticism, memes and applause, it is clear that Ramos leaves no one indifferent when he mixes sport and music.
Lamine Yamal and Nicki Nicole: a romance that brings two worlds together
While in Madrid soccer was transformed into song, in Barcelona the protagonist was Lamine Yamal, Barça’s 18-year-old jewel. The striker confirmed his relationship with Argentine singer Nicki Nicole, 25, with a post on Instagram: an intimate photo celebrating the artist’s birthday surrounded by roses, balloons and a personalized cake.
The couple had already raised rumors weeks ago, when Nicki appeared at the Camp Nou wearing Yamal’s jersey at the Joan Gamper Trophy. Although at the time there was talk of institutional action by the club, now the story took the form of reality. Curious was the comment of the player’s father, who admitted that he did not know who Nicki Nicole was… or Bizarrap!
Soccer and music: an increasingly evident symbiosis
Although Ramos and Yamal represent different generations and opposite paths -one saying goodbye, the other emerging-, both embody a shared idea: soccer is not only played, it is also sung and lived with its own soundtrack.
Music serves to perpetuate memory (in the case of Ramos) or to build identity and personal narrative (in the case of Yamal and Nicki Nicole). And in both scenarios, the impact transcends sports and becomes a cultural trend.
