September 17, 2025. The Latin Recording Academy unveiled the nominees for the 26th Latin Grammy Awards and, as expected, Bad Bunny grabbed headlines: 12 nominations driven by his January album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos. The Puerto Rican is competing for Album of the Year and is up against himself in Record of the Year and Song of the Year with “Baile Inolvidable” and “DTMF“. He is also among the top contenders for Best Roots Song for “Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawaii,” a new category that signals the Academy’s willingness to embrace folklore and traditions.
It is not an isolated peak: Bad Bunny already adds nominations every year since 2017, 12 gramophones won and 52 career nominations. An uncommon regularity in such a changing scene.
Behind, the 2025 map is wide. Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso sign a great campaign with Papota and his singles “El Día del Amigo” and “#Tetas”. Edgar Barrera, infallible craftsman of urban pop, returns to the scene with multiple appearances thanks to works with Karol G (“Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido”), Maluma (“Cosas Pendientes”) and more, and fights for Composer and Producer of the Year.
Among the names that complete the picture are legends and voices on the rise: Milton Nascimento, Shakira, Rauw Alejandro, Gloria Estefan, Carín León, Mon Laferte, Silvana Estrada, Ela Minus, Rubén Blades, Nicki Nicole, Christian Nodal, Rusowsky, Gustavo Dudamel, Grupo Frontera or Tokischa. A spectrum that ranges from candombe to reggaeton, from singer-songwriters’ songs to Latin jazz, including new labels such as Latin electronica and music for image.
The ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The telecast will be carried by TelevisaUnivision in the United States. “The impact of Latin music continues to grow globally, and this year’s nominees encapsulate its diversity and richness without losing the iconic sounds that make us unique,” said Manuel Abud, CEO of the Academy.

Why these nominations matter
Beyond the battle for trophies, the 2025 picture confirms three trends:
- Latin urban music no longer lives in a bubble: it dialogues with alternative, Mexican regional music and song.
- Brazil and the Southern Cone are pushing hard in alternative pop and MPB/MAPB, with Liniker as a key name.
- Memory and roots return to the center with categories such as Best Roots Song, where Lafourcade and Bad Bunny coexist.
