Iván Ferreiro has once again demonstrated that his music knows no borders. The legendary Galician musician, one of the most beloved voices of Spanish pop-rock, has just finished a triumphant tour of Mexico that took him to Mexico City, Guadalajara and Aguascalientes, with the support of the Sonorama Ribera del Duero festival in its second edition in Mexico.
More than 3,000 people vibrated in Naucalpan
The highlight came on Saturday, April 26, with a full house at the Sala Urbana in Naucalpan, where more than 3,000 people chanted Ferreiro’s anthems from start to finish. “Turnedo”, “Años 80” and “El pensamiento circular” became shared shouts between the artist and a dedicated Mexican audience, confirming the emotional connection that his music continues to generate on both sides of the Atlantic.
Iván offered a show full of emotion, elegance and closeness, in which he knew how to balance nostalgia with current events, in an artistic moment that shows him more lucid than ever.
An expanding tour
The Mexican mini-tour began with a concert in Mexico City, where he returned after selling out the Lunario del Auditorio Nacional last year. Ferreiro then performed in Guadalajara, also at the Sala Urbana, and closed his Mexican tour with an emotional concert at the Feria Nacional de San Marcos in Aguascalientes, one of Mexico’s biggest cultural events.
A Sonorama with a Spanish accent
Ferreiro’s visit to Mexico was part of Sonorama Ribera del Duero Mexico, which was held for the second consecutive year. The festival, which seeks to build bridges between the Spanish music scene and Latin American audiences, also included artists such as Nacho Vegas, La Casa Azul, La Habitación Roja, Miss Caffeina, Tulsa, Carlos Ann, Embusteros and Sanguijuelas del Guadiana.
An edition that confirms that Spanish independent music continues to have a very special place in the hearts of the Mexican public.
