There are debuts that function as a rite of passage, and Geese’ s Saturday Night Live debut falls squarely into that category. The New York band was the show’s musical guest on the night of January 24, 2026, sharing an episode with host Teyana Taylor, and made it clear why their name has been circulating for months as one of the most restless in rock today.
For the occasion, Geese performed “Au Pays du Cocaine” and “Trinidad”, two songs taken from their latest album, Getting Killed, an album that has consolidated their sound personality: angular, nervous, unpredictable and with a theatrical touch that fits surprisingly well on the set of SNL.
A debut… with a previous history
Although this was Geese’s first official appearance on Saturday Night Live, vocalist Cameron Winter had been on the show before – albeit in a roundabout way. In the last episode of 2025, actor James Austin Johnson parodied him in a choral Christmas sketch that also featured imitations of Yoko Ono, Björk, Kate Bush or Post Malone. An almost prophetic detail that now makes sense: Geese were already on the cultural radar before stepping on stage.
Getting Killed comes from the indie circuit to prime time
Released in September 2025, Getting Killed is the band’s fourth studio album and the work that has skyrocketed their international projection. After a fall North American tour that generated near-unanimous word-of-mouth, Geese strung together key appearances: they performed “Taxes” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, recorded a live session for From the Basement – the prestigious series curated by Nigel Godrich –and surprised with a cover of New Radicals’ “You Get What You Give” on BBC Radio 1.
Even offstage, the group has continued to feed the mystery: Winter was featured on an Xbox advert, supposedly providing vocals to a version of Bruce Springsteen ‘s “Dancing in the Dark”, although to date this has not been officially confirmed.
A 2026 marked by major festivals
The SNL stint is not an end point, but an accelerator. Geese are now preparing for a high voltage festival calendar that includes Coachella, Primavera Sound, Bonnaroo and Governors Ball, among others. Dates that definitely place them at the forefront of contemporary alternative rock.
In a 51st season of Saturday Night Live that has already featured names like A$AP Rocky, Doja Cat, Sabrina Carpenter, Brandi Carlile, Olivia Dean, Lily Allen and Cher, Geese’s debut doesn’t feel like a rarity, but rather a confirmation: the noise they’ve been making from down under is now impossible to ignore.
