The wait is over: Doja Cat has just made official what she had been hinting for months in networks, interviews and secret parties. Her new album ‘Vie’ will arrive next September 26th, and with it opens a new aesthetic and sonic era. As a preview, the artist has released the catchy single “Jealous Type”, a retro pop explosion that seems straight out of a VHS tape forgotten in the living room of a house in 1987.
“Vie”: nostalgia, synthesizers and (a lot of) attitude.
Ever since the first visual nods to the project began in April, fans suspected that Doja Cat’s next step would be tinged with nostalgia. And they weren’t wrong. “Jealous Type,” produced by Jack Antonoff, is a synth-pop gem that plays with all the kitsch of ’80s pop culture: sprinklers, exaggerated looks, impossible hairstyles and choreography that could have been signed by Paula Abdul in her golden days.
The music video, directed by Hannah Lux Davis, amplifies this homage to the MTV era with a montage as playful as it is visually impeccable. In Doja’s own words at her recent listening party in New York:
“I wanted ‘Vie’ to be like opening someone’s secret diary in 1986. Intense colors, intense emotions, and no filters.”
Ma Vie World Tour: first international dates
The artist has also announced the first stops of her new world tour ‘Ma Vie World Tour’, which will begin in November and will mark her debut on stages in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Among the confirmed cities are Tokyo, Bangkok, Seoul, Singapore and Sydney.
This tour will be Doja Cat’s first since her performance at the Oscars 2025, where she performed Diamonds Are Forever in a musical number that combined classic glamour with her usual stage brashness.
A step further after ‘Scarlet
Doja’s previous album, Scarlet (2023), divided opinions but cemented her willingness to break the mold and challenge the expectations of commercial pop. Now, with ‘Vie’, she seems to want to recover that melodic magnetism that made her global, but from a more personal and playful place.
In addition, this 2025 has seen her collaborate with Jack Harlow on the track “Just Us” (with cameo appearances by Matt Damon and John Mayer in the music video), reinforcing her intention to play big on all fronts: music, film, fashion and entertainment.
