Deftones premiere “Milk of the Madonna” as a preview of Private Music

The American band Deftones has released their new single titled Milk of the Madonna. The song is the second preview of their upcoming album, Private Music, which will be released on August 22, 2025 via Reprise Records. The release comes five years after their last studio effort.

A sound true to its identity

Milk of the Madonna combines characteristic elements of the Deftones sound, such as dense guitars, enveloping atmospheres and the unmistakable voice of Chino Moreno. The song continues the line marked by the first advance of the album, My Mind Is a Mountain, offering a balance between intensity and more melodic passages.

Private Music album details

Private Music will be the band’s tenth studio album. The production has been in charge of Nick Raskulinecz, a regular collaborator of the band. According to the official information, the album will include new compositions that seek to consolidate Deftones’ sonic evolution, while maintaining the elements that have made them recognizable for more than three decades.

Live activity and in-house festival

To celebrate the release, Deftones will resume their North American tour this month and then visit Europe in January 2026. In addition, a Deftones Day festival will be held in San Diego on November 1, featuring artists such as Clipse and Deafheaven.

An established band

Formed in the late 80’s in Sacramento, California, Deftones have achieved a prominent place within alternative metal and experimental rock. With each release, the band continues to demonstrate their ability to remain relevant on the international scene.
