The Lathums surprise us with “Heartbreaker”, a glamorous and explosive indie-pop track

British band The Lathums continue to surprise their fans and have released an exciting new single titled “Heartbreaker”. This track is the latest teaser from their highly anticipated third studio album, ‘Matter Does Not Define’, which will be released on March 7, 2025.

An explosion of indie-pop glam

Described as “a no-holds-barred glam blast,” “Heartbreaker” represents a refreshing change in the band’s style. According to frontman and lead vocalist Alex Moore, this single was created for a very special purpose:

“I wanted to move away from my usual style, which tends to be more introspective and fictional. Lately, people seem to be embracing their true selves with more pride and confidence, and I wanted to create a song that captures that energy. Something empowering, that people can sing along to with enthusiasm and that makes them feel unstoppable, like they’re embracing who they are.”

This indie-pop anthem captures a vibrant sense of empowerment and joy, positioning itself as one of the highlights of the upcoming album.

“Heartbreaker” joins the previously released “No Direction,” “Stellar Cast” and the heartbreaking ballad “Long Shadows,” preparing fans for an album that promises to be eclectic and deeply inspiring .

‘Matter Does Not Define’, available in a wide variety of formats (standard and special edition vinyl, CD, cassette and digital), was recorded at Liverpool’s Kempston Street Studios under the production of the band’s regular collaborators Chris Taylor and John Kettle.

The album not only promises a diverse musical range, but also addresses universal themes of unity, introspection and humanity. Speaking about the album’s significance, Moore explained:

“In the world we live in now, it’s hard to find some calm, some normalcy and comfort. People are very divided, and while that’s been around forever, it would be wonderful if we could all think a little bit beyond our own perspective. I like to believe there’s more good than bad, and I think people need to come together a little bit more right now.”

This message of hope and togetherness is the common thread of an album that invites us to reflect on our ability as humans to communicate, connect and create a positive impact on the world.
