Going home is never easy. Red Moon Yard turns nostalgia, loss and rootedness into emotional raw material in “Pucela te quiero”, a new single released last Friday that works as an open letter to Valladolid, to the memory of the father and to everything that is no longer there… but still resonates.
The band led by Red Moon Yard has just released “Pucela te quiero”, an unreleased song that was not part of Intineri, their recent album, and that expands their narrative universe from a deeply intimate place.
In the words of its vocalist and composer Marcos F. Fermoselle, the song is born from the emotional impact of returning to Valladolid, his “city of heart”. A physical journey that quickly transforms into a mental journey through memories: the figure of his father, Real Valladolid, the business of yesteryear, relationships and affections that marked a vital stage.
“When I go back, all the echoes come back to me. Then I discover that what my mind had constructed no longer exists. They are just echoes. My father is gone,” Fermoselle explains.
Far from falling into paralyzing melancholy, “Pucela te quiero” finds its light in the present: the affection of the people, friends, family and an intact emotional identification with the city’s soccer club. A song that understands memory not as an anchor, but as a bond.
An off-disc piece, but key to its story.
Although not included in Intineri, “Pucela te quiero” fits naturally into the Red Moon Yard narrative. Musically it relies on American roots rock, with nods to the most recognizable Spanish pop rock – from Los Secretos to Fito y Fitipaldis or Leiva –but always filtered by a very personal sensibility.
This balance between the earthly and the introspective is one of the hallmarks of the group, especially marked by the vital vision of Fermoselle, a follower of Buddhist philosophy for over 30 years. An influence that runs through much of his discography and also defines Intineri.
Intineri and the inner itinerary
Recently released, Intineri – a play on words between itinerary and interior –is a concept album that explores the inner journey of each individual. A work divided almost symbolically into two sides:
- Side A: more direct songs, with a rock pulse, with influences ranging from Peter Gabriel and Coldplay (“You and I”), to echoes of Supertramp or Pink Floyd (“Lama’s Song”), including references to Paul Simon and Van Morrison.
- Side B: a more conceptual and experimental block, where tracks such as “After I Think”, “Inner”, “ Hey Mo” or “Lia’s Shout” stand out , with a freer creativity and a strong spiritual charge.
The album closes with “Un mundo sin final”, the band’s first song in Spanish, a turning point that marks a before and after in their career and that connects directly with the theme of reincarnation, the philosophical axis of the whole project.
