The album, which began to take shape when Manola joined the band Rufus T. Firefly, reflects a personal journey from uprootedness to acceptance of her Andalusian origin. The song “Me extraño”, composed in a moment of existential crisis, marks the beginning of this introspective journey.
An intuitive and personal creative process
With a drum kit by Bill Withers as the foundation and the title resonating like a mantra, “I Miss Me” was born intuitively and personally. Initially recorded with homemade resources, the song took shape in the basement of Manola’s house with producer Alejandro Fernández. The drums were recorded at Reno Studio with a creative strategy to achieve a unique sound, and the song was completed at La Mina with the collaboration of Raúl Pérez and Francisco Montaño.
