After positioning herself as one of the most intense and provocative emerging voices of the British scene, Lola Young has announced the release of her second album: I’m Only F**king Myself, scheduled for September 19, 2025 through Island/Day One. A title that already promises both lyrical rawness and artistic evolution.
The South London artist, known for her confessional and direct style, defines this work as “an ode to self-sabotage, my chance to crawl back from the brink of collapse”. Produced by her regular collaborators Manuka and SOLOMONOPHONIC (who have worked with Doja Cat and SZA), this new album promises to be her boldest and most personal offering to date.
Between vulnerability and empowerment
I’m Only F**king Myself comes on the heels of her 2024 debut This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway, the album that catapulted her to success with the viral hit “Messy”. In this new era, Lola moves even further away from pop conventions and dives into introspective territory, loaded with contrasts, dark humor and defiant sexuality.
The first preview of the album, “One Thing”, was described by Young herself as “liberating and sexy”, treating sex as something fun and light, while reversing gender roles with total naturalness. Added to this is the upcoming single “Not Like That Anymore”, which comes out this Friday, June 20, and whose lyrics have already set the networks ablaze: “I guess that means I don’t need your dick at all / And so I’m fucking myself, but not like that anymore”.
Provocative, unfiltered tracklist
The album features titles such as “F*CK EVERYONE”, “Post Sex Clarity”, “why do i feel better when i hurt you?” or “ur an absolute c word”, reflecting an uncensored narrative where Lola Young confronts her emotions with brutal frankness and sharp sensitivity.
