Lady Gaga and Tim Burton join forces in “The Dead Dance” for the second season of Wednesday. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

The dark and glamorous universe has new protagonists: Lady Gaga and Tim Burton. The artist and the filmmaker have collaborated for the first time in the music video for “The Dead Dance”, Gaga’s new single linked to the second season of the Netflix series Wednesday.

A black and white videoclip that breathes Burton

The video, directed by Burton, plays with gothic aesthetics, expressionistic shadows and macabre humor, elements that dialogue with both the director’s visual personality and Gaga’s imaginary. The piece maintains the connection with Wednesday and reinforces the dark atmosphere of the story starring Jenna Ortega.

A tailor-made song

“The Dead Dance” was written by Lady Gaga, Andrew Watt and Henry Walter, and produced by Gaga alongside Watt and Cirkut. The song is integrated into the narrative arc of the series, in which Gaga plays Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary Nevermore professor who made her debut in this second season following the Netflix teaser Tudum 2025.

Gaga in a state of grace

The release comes at the height of Gaga’s career. In March she released Mayhem, her first album in five years. Since then she has been a host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live, headlined Coachella 2025 and is currently touring North America, with confirmed dates in New York, Toronto and Chicago, before taking her live show to Europe and Australia.

This Sunday, Gaga will also headline the MTV Video Music Awards 2025, where she is nominated in 12 categories, including Video of the Year and Song of the Year for her collaboration with Bruno Mars on “Die With a Smile.”

An unexpected but inevitable alliance

That Gaga and Burton would work together seemed a matter of time: the pop diva who has made theatricality a hallmark of identity and the filmmaker who turned darkness into his own brand. “The Dead Dance” is not only a musical premiere, it is a meeting of aesthetic universes that promises to become one of the most iconic moments of 2025.
