Keanu Reeves returns to rock, Dogstar announces new album All in Now and international tour

For many, Keanu Reeves is synonymous with cinema.

But before becoming one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors, the John Wick and The Matrix star already had another artistic life: music.

Now that facet is coming back to the forefront.

His band, Dogstar, has just announced a new album titled All in Now, which will arrive on May 29 along with an international tour.

The project marks a new chapter for the alternative rock trio of Reeves on bass, Bret Domrose on guitar and vocals, and Robert Mailhouse on drums.

Dogstar continues its unexpected comeback

The new album comes just two years after Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, the album that marked the band’s return after more than two decades without releasing new music.

Dogstar formed in the 1990s within the Los Angeles alternative scene and released several albums before going on a long hiatus as its members pursued separate careers.

In Reeves’ case, his film career ended up completely dominating his schedule.

However, when the group decided to reunite again, they discovered that the musical chemistry was still intact.

An album that captures the band’s energy

The new album was produced by Nick Launay, known for his work with alternative rock artists and for his direct studio approach.

According to the band members, the goal was to capture the real energy of the band.

For Reeves, returning to the studio was an especially exciting experience. The musician explained that the spirit of the sessions was simple: work hard and enjoy playing together.

Drummer Robert Mailhouse has also noted that the album reflects what has always defined Dogstar: the fun of playing as a group and the musical connection between the three members.

“All in Now”, the first teaser

Ahead of the album’s release, Dogstar has already presented the first single: “All in Now”.

The song, which also gives the album its title, is accompanied by a minimalist music video directed by Carlos Garcia Medina.

The video shows the band performing the track in a darkened room, with a simple aesthetic that puts the focus on the musical performance.

For Mailhouse, the song perfectly sums up Dogstar’s current moment: a band that is once again betting on its sound and live energy.

The new album will be accompanied by an international tour.

Dogstar will kick off the tour on May 28 in Highland, California, before traveling to the UK and Europe for a series of concerts throughout the summer.

Later, the band will return to the U.S. with a second leg of the tour that will include stops in cities such as:

  • Austin
  • Atlanta
  • Nashville
  • Philadelphia
  • Boston
  • New York
  • Denver

The tour will conclude on September 3 in Salt Lake City.

Keanu Reeves and the music he never abandoned

Although his film career made him a global star, Reeves has never completely left music.

Dogstar was during the nineties a regular presence in the alternative circuit, touring with different bands of the time.

Today, with a new album on the way, the project once again proves that Reeves’ relationship with rock is not just a curiosity in his biography.

It is a real part of his artistic identity.

And with All in Now, Dogstar looks set to continue writing that story.
