Six years later, the wait is over.
BTS have officially confirmed the release date of their new album, their first since Be (2020), and have begun to anticipate a world tour in 2026. An announcement that marks the group’s true comeback after completing mandatory military service in South Korea.
The new album – as yet untitled – will be released on March 20, 2026 via Big Hit Entertainment and will be the band’s fifth studio album.
Six years of pause, growth and transformation
Since 2020, BTS had not released a joint studio album.
In 2021, the company confirmed an official break period, which ushered in an unprecedented stage in the group’s history.
During those years:
- released the anthology album Proof (2022)
- each member developed a solo career
- completed their military service
Far from disappearing, BTS diversified and grew.
A new album with the mentality of the beginning
As explained by the group itself after returning to the studio in July 2025, the focus of the new album is clear:
“We’re approaching this record with the same mindset as when we started.”
It’s not just about coming back.
It’s about reconnecting with the essence that made BTS a global phenomenon.
This spirit will also extend to live performances.
BTS confirms plans for world tour in 2026
Along with the album announcement, BTS announced that they are preparing a world tour to accompany this new release. Although there are still no confirmed dates or cities, the message was direct:
“We will be visiting fans all over the world. We hope you are as excited as we are.”
It will be the group’s first global tour after the hiatus, and one of the most anticipated international pop tours of the decade.
The solo stage and the key to the comeback
During their absence as a group, each member explored their artistic identity:
- J-Hope – Jack in the Box (2022)
- RM – Indigo (2022) and a second documented album in 2024
- Jimin – Face (2023)
- Jin, Jung Kook and other members developed audiovisual and musical projects.
There was also a constant screen presence, from documentaries to series on platforms such as Disney+.
All that individual journey now converges in this new chapter of BTS.
More than a comeback, it is a new stage
BTS’s comeback is not just a return to the familiar.
It comes after years of experience, global exposure and personal maturity.
It’s not the same group as in 2020.
But it’s still BTS.
And that, for millions of fans, changes everything.
March marks the beginning of a new era
March 20, 2026 will not only be the release of an album.
It will be the beginning of a new phase for the most influential K-pop group.
New album.
New tour.
New narrative.
BTS are back.
And the world is looking back to them.
