The 2024 Grammys are set to mark a milestone as legendary rock band U2 prepares to deliver the first-ever live-streamed performance from the state-of-the-art Sphere venue in Las Vegas. The announcement, made on January 26, has generated excitement among music enthusiasts and Grammy fans alike.
U2, known for its iconic performances, recently set records with “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere” last September. This spectacular performance served as the grand opening of the Sphere, an innovative venue located at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas. The venue features a remarkable 160,000-square-foot wrap-around indoor LED screen, creating an immersive visual experience for concertgoers.
The Las Vegas Sphere, with a height of 336 feet and a span of 516 feet, has earned its place as the largest spherical structure worldwide. Not only does it house the largest wraparound LED screens both inside and out, but it also features a state-of-the-art sound system with approximately 1,600 speakers, configured by Berlin-based company Holoplot.
At an estimated cost of $2.3 billion, the Sphere is not just a music venue; it is a multidimensional entertainment center. Director Darren Aronofsky will debut the first film for the Sphere, titled “Postcard From Earth,” on October 6, showcasing the venue’s commitment to diverse content spanning music, film and more.
U2 ‘s upcoming Grammy performance promises to be a groundbreaking event, adding another milestone to their illustrious career. The band will not only delight the audience with their musical prowess, but will also play a role in a special awards presentation during the broadcast.
As U2 joins a stellar cast that includes Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa and Olivia Rodrigo, the 66th Annual Grammy Awards is set to captivate viewers. With Trevor Noah as host, the ceremony will take place in the Crypto.com Arena of Los Angeles on Feb. 4, broadcasting live on the CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
