It\u2019s the first single from <em>*Acojonante*<\/em>, a new 12-song album with which Hombres G proves that getting older doesn\u2019t necessarily mean becoming more prudent. <\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are bands that, after forty years, are starting to worry about their legacy.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hombres G seems to have other concerns.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>the number of assholes in the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is, quite literally, the starting point of his new song.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s titled <strong>\u201cGilipollas,\u201d<\/strong> and since <strong>October 2,<\/strong> it has served as the lead single for the upcoming album by David Summers, Rafa Guti\u00e9rrez, Dani Mezquita, and Javi Molina.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The album has an equally understated title:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Scary<\/em> as hell.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And all of this might seem like just another stunt by four musicians who have been pulling pranks for more than four decades.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Until you hear the song.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because behind the title lies something very Hombres G.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Humor.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Costumbrismo.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rock &amp; roll.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And a certain sense of bewilderment at the world around them.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cThere are a lot of assholes.\u201d<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The song&#8217;s main idea could easily be summarized.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We all know someone like that.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The guy who just has to give you his opinion.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The one who constantly draws attention.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The person who turns every conversation into a conversation about himself.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Someone who is convinced they are right.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hombres G observes that character and comes to a conclusion:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem no longer seems to be an individual one.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>It seems like an epidemic.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The song uses precisely that idea to take an ironic look at a society saturated with opinions, egos, and lifestyles that constantly demand our attention.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that&#8217;s where \u201cGilipollas\u201d connects surprisingly well with 2026.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because we&#8217;ve never had so many ways to express our opinions on absolutely everything.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Social media.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Comments.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Videos.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Podcasts.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Threads.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Answers.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reactions.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Opinions about other people&#8217;s opinions.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everyone has a microphone.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hombres G has simply come up with a word to describe some of the people who use it.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">But \u201cGilipollas\u201d doesn&#8217;t sound the way you&#8217;d probably expect<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s one of the surprises.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This isn&#8217;t just three minutes of guitar-driven pop-rock trying to recreate the &#8217;80s.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The song starts off with a nod to <strong>rhythm &amp; blues and classic rock<\/strong>, with a distinct <strong>Blues Brothers<\/strong>-style energy.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Metals.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choruses.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Piano.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Groove.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guitars.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The recording took place at <strong>Halley Hub Studio<\/strong>, with <strong>Pablo Cebri\u00e1n<\/strong> as producer and <strong>I\u00f1aki de las Cuevas<\/strong> as engineer.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And there&#8217;s one thing that&#8217;s important:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All four members of Hombres G were involved in the process.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because <em>*Acojonante*<\/em> doesn&#8217;t seem to have been conceived simply as an excuse to go back on tour.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">It all started when I was looking for two songs<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The story behind the album is quite interesting.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In November 2025, David Summers told EFE that they had initially embarked on a creative process to find <strong>two new songs to accompany their documentary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But songs began to appear.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And more songs.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the end, about twenty people gathered.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From among them, they selected twelve.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Summers then used the very word that would eventually give the project its name:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They had <strong>\u201can awesome album\u201d<\/strong> on their hands <strong>.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And apparently they thought:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why look for another degree?<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">That&#8217;s How It&#8217;ll Be: <em>Scary as Hell<\/em><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What we know so far looks quite promising.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There will be <strong>12 songs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And not all of them will follow in the footsteps of \u201cGilipollas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the promotional material, the show will feature irony, empowering songs, love stories, and scenes depicting contemporary everyday life.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Musically, the range will be even broader:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>rock, ska, pop, ballads, and even film scores inspired by the James Bond universe.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latter is particularly curious.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because imagining Hombres G going from \u201cGilipollas\u201d to a sort of 007 soundtrack on the same album is exactly the kind of combination that makes you want to listen to it.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The album will follow <em><strong>*La esquina de Rowland*<\/strong><\/em>, released in 2021. Some reports suggest it will be released in 2027, although the official release date has yet to be confirmed.   <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">40 years later, it&#8217;s still the same four<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that&#8217;s probably where the real story lies.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hombres G isn&#8217;t just David Summers.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They continue to be:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>David Summers. Rafa Guti\u00e9rrez. Dani Mezquita. Javi Molina.   <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All four of them.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The band was formed in Madrid in the early 1980s, and what happened next is part of the history of Spanish pop.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGive me back my girl.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cVenice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI love you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI&#8217;m going to have a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMarta has a pacemaker.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Attack of the Crocodile Girls.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIndiana.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Songs that were passed down from one generation to the next, resulting in something quite strange: <strong>Hombres G managed to outlive their own nostalgia.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, he continues to fill large venues.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Palau Sant Jordi website reports a monthly audience <strong>of<\/strong> approximately <strong>11 million listeners<\/strong> across various platforms, while the current tour, <em>*The Best Years of Our Lives*<\/em>, is traveling through Spain and Latin America.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that brings us to tonight.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cGilipollas\u201d comes out just as Hombres G takes Barcelona by storm<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, <strong>October 3, 2026<\/strong>, Hombres G is performing at the <strong>Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The concert begins at 9:00 p.m. as part of the <em>&#8220;The Best Years of Our Lives<\/em>&#8221; tour.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next up is Murcia on October 9.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then Latin America, with concerts in Mexico, Colombia, and Peru, before returning to Spain to perform in Valencia, Zaragoza, Pamplona, A Coru\u00f1a, and Madrid.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are also several dates for which demand is extremely high.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is to say:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hombres G isn&#8217;t releasing new music because it desperately needs to remind the public that it exists.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The audience never left.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">And the documentary has just come out<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The timing couldn&#8217;t be better, either.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Hombres G: The Best Years of Our Lives<\/strong><\/em> has just premiered on Movistar Plus+.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Directed by <strong>Charlie Arnaiz and Alberto Ortega<\/strong>, the documentary uses previously unseen footage and personal accounts to reconstruct the story of four friends who started out playing music together without ever imagining they would end up at the center of one of the biggest fan phenomena in Spanish music.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that word\u2014<strong>friends<\/strong>\u2014comes up again and again whenever people talk about them.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its own official website sums it up in one sentence:<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe base everything on friendship.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It may be a surprisingly simple explanation for why they&#8217;re still together.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">But then the controversy arose<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because, naturally, a song titled \u201cGilipollas\u201d wasn&#8217;t going to go completely unnoticed.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The band appeared on <em>*El Hormiguero*<\/em> to coincide with the release and ended up talking specifically about the reaction the title had sparked.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">David Summers offered an interesting reflection there on how our relationship with the things that bother us has changed.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His point was that we have gone from simply expressing that we don&#8217;t like something to demanding that certain things simply not be said.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don&#8217;t have to agree with Summers to recognize that the conversation fits the song perfectly.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because \u201cGilipollas\u201d is, in fact, about a society full of people who judge one another.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then a wonderful irony emerges:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A song about people who have an opinion on everything causes everyone to have an opinion about the song.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Very Hombres G.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Because the provocation was always there<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There&#8217;s something worth remembering.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Back in 1985, these guys were already singing:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cSuffer, you asshole.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The song ended up being popularly known as \u201cGive Me Back My Girl,\u201d but its irreverent lyrics were part of the band\u2019s DNA.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was also \u201cMarta Has a Pacemaker.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Attack of the Crocodile Girls.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCome visit our bar.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTrembling.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hombres G always had that strange ability to alternate between teenage romance and absurd humor, swagger, naivety, and lines that sounded like conversations you might overhear in any bar.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They weren&#8217;t lyrics meant to sound important.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that is precisely why many of them became part of everyday language.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Forty years later, it seems that David Summers is still eavesdropping on conversations.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s just that now they also happen on a screen.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can Hombres G make another great album?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s the really interesting question.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not if they can&#8217;t sell out concerts.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s already been answered.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I don&#8217;t know if people remember his songs.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The question is whether a band with more than four decades of history can still release <strong>12 new songs that are worth listening to for more than just the name on the cover<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Asshole&#8221; doesn&#8217;t let us reply yet.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it does leave a rather promising clue.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He&#8217;s not trying to turn Hombres G into a young band.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don&#8217;t try to disguise them with whatever production style is currently in vogue.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He isn&#8217;t desperately looking for a collaboration with a 22-year-old just to get on a playlist.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It sounds like four guys who&#8217;ve made it this far together and still have fun walking into a studio.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And maybe that&#8217;s exactly the album they should make.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hombres G Still Wants to Have a Good Time<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is something admirably unpretentious about all of this.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A career spanning more than forty years.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Millions of records.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spain.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mexico.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Latin America.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stadiums.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Movies.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Documentaries.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Entire generations singing the same songs.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And when the time comes to introduce the next chapter of their career, they could have chosen a more elegant title.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few thoughts on the passage of time.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Friendship.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Legacy.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Memory.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Life.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead, the single is called:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cAsshole.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the album:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Scary<\/em> as hell.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe Hombres G hasn&#8217;t changed that much after all.<\/p>\n\n<p
